GE Water Purification Systems - GE Whole House Water Filters and GE Drinking Water Filter Review

GE Water Purification Systems - GE Whole House Water Filters and GE Drinking Water Filter Review

Water Filter

GE appliances are well known for high quality GE water purification systems. You have different options if you are looking at a GE filtration system including whole house filters, bath and shower filters, drinking water filters and more, depending on your individual needs and preferences.

GE Water Filtration System

GE filter systems provide you with clear and clean water for laundry, washing dishes and showering as well as drinking. Filtering reduces sand, rust and sediment, meaning less buildup inside pipes, dishwashers, heaters and other fixtures. GE purification systems have remote magnetic reminder lights so you know when it is time to change the filter.

GE Whole House Water Filters

A GE whole house filter features a heavy duty household sediment filtration system, high flow plumbing connections, a push button pressure relief valve and a remote filter change reminder light. It can last for about three months before it needs to be changed.

You might think that a water filter for the whole house would take up a lot of space but the equipment measures only fourteen inches by eight, so even if you do not have a lot of space, there will be somewhere to install this. You should install this filter at the main inlet so it can reduce sand, rust and sediment. It is best to install this kind of filtration system on the main pipe between your heater and softener.

GE Drinking Water Filter

With GE purification systems, you can choose from single or dual stage carbon filtration, reverse osmosis, faucet mounted filtration or water pitcher filtration, depending on your budget.

Carbon filtration systems have a space-saving design and they reduce the contaminants such as mercury or lead. Faucet mounted filters install in minutes on almost any type of faucet. Water pitcher filter are designed to fit in your refrigerator door. The pitcher works quickly and it keeps for days afterwards in the refrigerator.

The GE water filtration system using reverse osmosis means that any contaminants or pollutants are separated from your drinking water via two carbon filters and a semi-permeable membrane. It can work on particles a hundred thousand times finer than a human hair and RO systems tend to be reliable and low maintenance.

Chlorine Water Filter - Avoid the Many Dangers of Chlorine by Using a Home Chlorine Water Filter

Chlorine Water Filter - Avoid the Many Dangers of Chlorine by Using a Home Chlorine Water Filter

Water Filter

Without a chlorine water filter, you are exposing yourself to serious health risk, whether you know it or not. I'm shocked that authorities don't even encourage people to use a chlorine water filter at home. I guess they'd rather have people think that the water they're drinking and bathing in is safe. Here's how serious the problem really is.

The reason public treatment plants use chlorine as a disinfectant is not because it's most effective or safe- they use it because it's cheap! Today our treatment systems use the same technology as they did at the turn of the last century; they filter out all the visible particles and then essentially add bleach to disinfect.

Since chlorination is STANDARD in our water treatment system, it only makes sense that using a chlorine water filter at home should be STANDARD too.

Oh, and by the way, the EPA set the limit as to how much chlorine can be used to disinfect water supplies at 4 parts per million (ppm). On most standard pool kits, they state that swimming in anything above 3ppm is dangerous!

Recent studies have shown that there is a significant association between cancer and chlorinated water. In fact, the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality stated that "Cancer risk among people using chlorinated water is as much as 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine". And women with breast cancer have been shown to contain 50%-60% more chlorinated byproducts (THMs) in their fat tissue than women without cancer.

Most people think that drinking chlorinated water is bad, but showering in it is even worse! As the matter of fact, more than 2/3 of of the harmful effects of chlorinated water are experienced from the inhalation and absorption of it. When taking a hot shower, chlorine molecules are vaporized and pumped into the air you breath even before the water hits the bottom of the shower. There's even more reason to buy a chlorine water filter for your shower than for your faucet!

Here's the whole thing about chlorinating our water supplies: This chemical is used as a disinfectant to KILL bacteria, parasites, and other water-borne diseases. For the simple fact that it's used to KILL anything should mean that we shouldn't be consuming it, whether we drink it, cook with it, or shower in it. But since it's needed to protect us from dangerous bacteria and parasites, a home chlorine water filter is the only way to keep your water safe enough to consume.

I just find it odd that only 2 decades after we started using chlorine as a prevalent disinfectant and after we started using synthetic chemicals heavily that the current spike in cancer started. Back in the early 1900s, 1 in 50 people eventually had cancer in their life. Today though, 1 in 3 people have cancer at some point in their life. If only owning a chlorine water filter was mandatory!

In conclusion, do yourself and your family a favor and install a chlorine water filter in your home. For maximum protection against the dangers of chlorine, get both a faucet and shower filtration unit. It doesn't have to be that expensive either. In our home, we use top of the line systems that remove 99% of all chlorine and other contaminants, and it only costs us pennies a day to assure that all the water we drink and shower in is pure, safe, and healthy.

Running Water

Running Water On YouTube.

OK, here are some nature clips of running water.................IN COLOR WITH NATURAL SOUND! No, black and white infrared, no funky colored skies, no sound effects added, no "silent movies" and no added music! The only on site effetcs were the occasional use of a polarizing filter and slow shutter speeds in two sequences. The only image edits were the fade from and to black, the fades between the scenes, some minor color corrections, some minor gain reduction, some video noise reduction and some added stereo "sound spreading". Uploader's Note This is the last major video shoot that I will be doing of this place untill mid-October when the leaves turn color. With the on and off bad weather that's been hitting the NY Tri-State area over the past 5 days I decided to go to the Ramapo Reservation and tape the Ramapo River and the brook along the Waterfall Trail as the rainfall made their levels higher and more active..............and louder! Note the two large branches at the base of the waterfall!

Fukushima Japan Radiation Spreads Worldwide by Arnie Gundersen 8/22/11

Fukushima Japan Radiation Spreads Worldwide by Arnie Gundersen 8/22/11 On YouTube.

New Data Supports Previous Fairewinds Analysis, as Contamination Spreads in Japan and Worldwide Newly released neutron data from three University of California San Diego scientists confirms Fairewinds' April analysis that the nuclear core at Fukushima Daiichi turned on and off after TEPCO claimed its reactors had been shutdown. This periodic nuclear chain reaction (inadvertent criticality) continued to contaminate the surrounding environment and upper atmosphere with large doses of radioactivity. In a second area of concern, Fairewinds disagrees the NRC's latest report claiming that all Fukushima spent fuel pools had no problems following the earthquake. In a new revelation, the NRC claims that the plutonium found more than 1 mile offsite actually came from inside the nuclear reactors. If such a statement were true, it indicates that the nuclear power plant containments failed and were breached with debris landing far from the power plants themselves. Such a failure of the containment system certainly necessitates a complete review of all US reactor containment design and industry assurances that containments will hold in radioactivity in the event of a nuclear accident. The evidence Fairewinds reviewed to date continues to support its April analysis that the detonation in the Unit 3 Spent Fuel pool was the cause of plutonium found off site. Third, the burning of radioactive materials (building materials, trees, lawn grass, rice straw) by the Japanese government will ...

Absorption And Adsorption

Absorption And Adsorption Video Clips.

Check us out at www.tutorvista.com Adsorption is the adhesion of molecules of gas, liquid, or dissolved solids to a surface. This process creates a film of the adsorbate (the molecules or atoms being accumulated) on the surface of the adsorbent. It differs from absorption, in which a fluid permeates or is dissolved by a liquid or solid. The term sorption encompasses both processes, while desorption is the reverse of adsorption. Similar to surface tension, adsorption is a consequence of surface energy. In a bulk material, all the bonding requirements (be they ionic, covalent, or metallic) of the constituent atoms of the material are filled by other atoms in the material. However, atoms on the surface of the adsorbent are not wholly surrounded by other adsorbent atoms and therefore can attract adsorbates. The exact nature of the bonding depends on the details of the species involved, but the adsorption process is generally classified as physisorption (characteristic of weak van der Waals forces) or chemisorption (characteristic of covalent bonding). Adsorption is present in many natural physical, biological, and chemical systems, and is widely used in industrial applications such as activated charcoal, capturing and using waste heat to provide cold water for air conditioning and other process requirements (adsorption chillers), synthetic resins, increase storage capacity of carbide-derived carbons for tunable nanoporous carbon, and water purification. Why Use Whole House Water Filter Replacement Cartridges?

Why Use Whole House Water Filter Replacement Cartridges?

Water Filter

Whole house water filter replacement cartridges may be just the right choice for providing clean fresh water to every faucet of your home. Although the units may cost more initially, the price of whole house water filter replacement cartridges are very reasonable.

We looked at the prices of replacing individual filters around the house and found that we could literally save thousands of dollars per year. The best units cost less than a thousand to purchase. So, it literally pays for itself.

Doctors, scientists, and other health professional have been advising us for years about the dangers of unfiltered tap-water. The public system is teeming with harmful chemicals, pesticides, spores, and bacteria. The very chlorine used by your local cleaning facility for disinfection can harm you in a surprising number of ways.

The best whole house water filter replacement cartridges are certified by Underwriter's Laboratory to remove more than 99% of chlorine and other chemical contaminants, as well as by-products of chlorination, referred to as THMs. But, you have to choose your system carefully.

Reverse osmosis, for example, removes very few of the dangerous infiltrates that threaten our health today. They are very expensive, running in excess of ten thousand dollars. Believe me. We priced them when we were trying to choose the right product.

They are also expensive to operate because of electrical costs and installation requires both a plumber and an electrician. Maintenance is also expensive, because the membranes are very delicate and require changing more often than any whole house water filter replacement cartridges.

And, this is one of those situations where price is not indicative of quality or value. Chlorine, as we mentioned above is bad for your health. Instead of removing it, RO systems require it or some other disinfection process. They do nothing on their own to kill bacteria. They also will not filter chlorine or any other chemicals.

We learned that unless you have salt water, like from a well, near the ocean, there is no reason to install a reverse osmosis system. It is truly a waste of money for most of us.

Why are we worried about chemicals? Do you read the news? "Drugs found in tap-water", "Facilities modify tests in order to pass EPA standards", "2400 different toxic chemicals found in drinking supplies around the country" and those are just a few of the headlines.

You might think that it would be a hassle to remember to buy new whole house water filter replacement cartridges, but the company we chose has a solution for that. They offer automatic direct shipment. So, when it's time for a change, there's a new one on my door step.

It is only the pre-filters that have to be replaced regularly. They only last us three months. The main unit lasts for three years.

So there you have it, whole house water filter replacement cartridges are an inexpensive way to protect your family's health. If you buy direct, you'll save even more and if you choose the right company, they offer a discount when you sign up for auto-ship. There is no downside that I can see.

Braun Coffee Maker Water Filter is Worth the Money!

Braun Coffee Maker Water Filter is Worth the Money!

Water Filter

Braun coffee maker water filter is not able to brew you any coffee, but the amount of money that you are paying for a pack of filters is enough to buy you a new coffee maker! And that is the reason why I am trying to establish the fact that this filter is worth the investment.

Firstly, we know that a pack of filter can cost up to , which is not cheap for accessories and a price that can get you a very basic 6 cup drip filter machine. If I would to share with you that this same pack of filters was just retailing at some time ago, you might even think that these companies are out to rip you off!

I do not know if it applies to this situation. A friend of mine that works in a pharmaceutical industry as a researcher told me that the high pricing for some specialized drug despite the fact that producing the drug is so cheap is due to the cost of R&D which amount up to billions of dollars.

And if you think about it, it might be the same case for this water filter. Developed jointly by Braun and Brita, the objective of this device is to give a better coffee by filtering out the undesirable components in the water.

For those of us that have been brewing coffee for a number of years, we all know that water makes a difference in the finished brew. If there is a choice, we should always use soft water instead of the normal tap water or what is known as hard water.

The water that comes out from our tap is hard water. Because it is meant for consumption, numerous minerals are added to ensure that this water is safe for consumption. But, this same tap water would change the taste of coffee and in the long run, clog your coffee filter and ruin your carafe.

As people seek for better tasting coffee, water becomes an important element and so water filter is something essential. And Brita is a name that is well known for its filtering devices.

So, despite the high pricing for this Braun device, I think it is well worth the investment. Other than giving you good quality water that would brew you better coffee, it occurs to me that over the long run, it would actually save you money.

As mentioned earlier, using hard water in coffee making would results in minerals depositing in your coffee maker. This would lead to faster wear and tear that would shorten the life span of your machine.

So, by filtering your water, you would mitigate this situation and prolong the life span of your brewer.

And, I am not the only one that thinks this Braun accessory is a good investment. If you would to read any reviews and evaluation from Amazon or other shopping sites, out of 10 reviews, usually more than 80% are happy with their purchase.

There you have it, my view on this water filter from Braun and I think it is worth the investment.

Slow Sand Water Filter

Slow Sand Water Filter Video Clips.

Prototype unit I built to help me get a better feel for what kind of filtration rate (GPM/sq.ft.) I might expect to see on a larger system (think, rainwater collection.) This one only sees about .5 GMP/sq.ft. which is pretty low. Gonna try different amounts of media. Looking to get 2... 3 max GPM/sq.ft. Gravel, sand, and activated carbon. The ability to backwash is nice, but again, it's really not necessary unless you're constantly running something like, oh, mud, through the filter. The idea though, was that the backwash water could be collected (hence that drain pipe in the middle that comes out the side), the solids allowed to settle out, then run the clear water back though the filter. When to Change a Carbon Water Filter to Avoid Health and Plumbing Problems

When to Change a Carbon Water Filter to Avoid Health and Plumbing Problems

Water Filter

Having carbon water filtration in your home is one of the simplest and most inexpensive ways to replicate the forces of nature within your home. A carbon water filter works much the same way natural water filtration does. But while nature has ways to deal with the material that filtered out, it all stays within man made filter cartridges. This can cause problems with health and with the proper operation of the filter so it's important to keep up with maintenance.

In nature there is a continual process that removes contaminants from water as is passes through soil. The bacterial contaminants either die or migrate elsewhere out of the soil. Physical particles will get trapped in the natural carbon of the soil while the now clean water makes it through and collects elsewhere.

Since this continual process cannot take place within the carbon filters of your home filtration systems you need to manually replace the cartridges. The frequency of this replacement depends in large part to the brand and the type of cartridge you are using, as well as how much water you pass through the filter. In some cases you will need to replace the filter every few weeks while with other types you can go many months.

The type of filter cartridge that requires the most frequent replacement are the small faucet mounted filters. These are very convenient water filters in that there is no pitcher to fill, but since it is physically smaller the carbon will get used up more quickly by being filled with contaminants. Certain brands of these filters will have an indicator to tell you when the filter needs to be changed, while others lack that feature. If your carbon cartridge does not have this kind of indicator then you should consider changing it at least once each month, or when the water flow decreases noticeably.

With pitcher style water filter systems you can go a bit longer between cartridge replacements. In many cases you can go about three months. This makes it somewhat simpler to remember when to replace the cartridge as you can schedule it to coincide with each quarter of the year. You can also plan to have a year's worth of filters on hand for replacement, and this would only be four filters.

There are also refrigerators with water dispensers that have built in water filtration. With this type of dispenser it's fairly typical that there will be an indicator on the refrigerator door that will indicate when the filter is in need of replacement. While it may be tempting to ignore these warnings and just hit the reset button, there are some very good reason to carry out the recommended replacement.

For the health argument, you don't know for how much longer the filter will be effective. While there is a certain level of safety built in to the time limits on the filter cartridges, you don't really know how long that is and you don't know how long it will be before the contaminants that were filtered out will get back into your water due to the carbon being saturated.
